75th Anniversary

August 1941 Community Leaders in Waynesboro partnered with Community Chest nationally to bring a consolidated giving model to the community.  In January 1942, the community of Staunton did the same.

In the 1970's the name was changed to United Way nationally and that name was adopted in the two communities.

In 2004, United Way of Waynesboro-East Augusta and United Way of Staunton-West Augusta were merged to become United Way of Greater Augusta.

75 years later, the United Way of Greater Augusta continues to have the legacy of Caring for Generations.

As we delve through the history, it is apparent that community leaders from 1941 to today have been dedicated to the work of the United Way.

If you have a family connection or know history you would like to share, please contact us at:  Cynthia.pritchard@unitedway.org

We hope that you will help us celebrate our 75 years in a way that will impact the community for another 75 years.
