The United Way of Greater Augusta, Inc. is proud to announce the recipient of the 2007/08 Spirit of Community Award is Angela Engleman with the Salvation Army of Waynesboro East/Augusta.

Ms. Engleman has a 25 year career in her chosen vocation of social work at the Salvation Army in Waynesboro.    She is very active in many aspects of the ministry and service of the Salvation Army and in 2000 was awarded the Sunday School Teacher of The Year and Outstanding Service as Jr. Soldier Sergeant Awards.

She was graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an Associate Degree in General Studies and while at BRCC was on the Dean’s List and accepted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society.

Her training in disaster response enabled her to serve at the Pentagon following the attacks on September 11, 2001.

“Those of us who have had the privilege and honor to work with her, admire her greatly, said Sandra Stanwitz, Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Augusta.  We firmly believe that her name says it all for she is an angel to those in need in Waynesboro and East Augusta County,” Stanwitz stated.
